Senior React Developer

Part-time contract position

About the Role

Ellytronic is seeking a self-motivated mid-or-senior-level React Developer who is focused on building high-quality experiences in the browser. This part-time contract position is valid for the remainder of the calendar year on a new NextJS/React web application.

You would work alongside and report to one other developer on this project. You would also have support on technical consulting, project management, and other forms of support. The application development is already in progress, but we’re looking to accelerate the current timeline by bringing on another developer.

Compensation

You will be compensated at an hourly rate of $65-$90 for this project, commensurate with experience. You’ll also be compensated with lots of thanks, and the occasional GrubHub gift card. You will be paid via direct deposit every other Friday for your hours worked in the previous pay cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize and extend existing design patterns to implement component user stories
  • Regular (2-3 times per week) check-ins with team members and weekly client meeting
  • Regular communication via Slack during weekdays
  • Utilizing our project management system to implement and track user stories
  • Tracking work using version control (git)
  • Logging time/hours worked on our time tracking system (Harvest)
  • Reading API documentation to connect with our RESTful API
  • Participating in and adhering to our agile/sprint based planning process and workflow

Requirements

  • Senior-level engineering skills with experience building modern scalable web applications using React; Mid-level engineers with at least 2 years of experience will be considered
  • Experience in programming and interacting with APIs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English
  • Must reside in North or South America for timezone reasons
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States
  • Relentless focus on our customer’s experience and attention to detail
  • Mastery of HTML and CSS and experience styling custom and isolated components
  • Strong UX and Design sensibilities to build accessible and responsive products
  • Experience building and debugging complex systemsFlexibility with changing scopes and priorities; we believe in iteration and work in a fast paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Developer, or related area
  • Experience with NextJS preferred
  • Experience with NextJS SWR library preferred
  • A well-versed background in RTFM 😅
  • Comfort working with millennials whose sole purpose in life was to destroy the napkin industry
  • A kind human who plays nicely others
